We offer camps for one week during the week of the President’s Day holiday, two weeks during Spring Break (April), and for 4 weeks during the summer (mid-June to mid-July*). There is no camp during our two-week Winter Break.
Currently enrolled and former students (up to rising first graders) are eligible to enroll in Mountain School camps. Priority is given to currently enrolled students.
* No camp during the 4th of July week
Fine motor skills and imaginations will be engaged, as each child helps to design and sew (with assistance!) his or her own pieces for dress-up play. The children will take their creations home at the end of the week.
MERRY MUSIC MAKING
We will begin each morning in song, while we explore the different sound qualities of a variety of objects. Throughout the week children will use everyday objects to craft their own musical instruments, to be taken home at the end of the week.
In this week we will be sewing “shooting stars,” a fun toy to play with during the week at the nest and then to take home. Golden, red, yellow, orange, and purple streamers flutter behind this fun toy when a child throws it and it flies through the air.
NATURAL WOOL DYING & TOY MAKING
We will dye wool with natural organic foods and spices, like onions and turmeric soup spice; then we will make the dyed wool into toys to take home. Natural wool dying is wet splashy fun!
We will go for daily hikes, off campus, to move, and explore nature in the neighborhood.
BEAN BAG TURTLES
We will make bean bag turtles for puppet shows!
MERMAIDS & BOATS
We will make water toys, including beeswax mermaids and small boats, to play with outside in water basin “pools.”
