Marin Mountain School Community & Traditions
Community is not incidental to Marin Mountain School, it is at the very heart of it. We gather for festivals, work parties, parent evenings, and the everyday moments of connection that make this place feel like a true village.
Parent involvement is warmly welcomed and deeply valued. Our board is parent-led. Our traditions are community-built.

Throughout the Year
Festivals & Traditions
The seasonal cycle is our calendar. These celebrations root children in the rhythms of the year and create memories that last a lifetime.

Apple Faire
Our beloved annual harvest celebration brings the whole community together for apple pressing, crafts, face painting, games, and the sweet labor of community. One of the most cherished events in our school year.

Lantern Walk
As the days grow shorter and darkness comes earlier, children carry their own handcrafted lanterns on an evening walk together. A quiet and moving community ritual of bringing light into the darkness.

Stay-for-Circle Days
Several times a year, parents are invited to stay and join the morning circle alongside their children, experiencing the rhythm and songs of our daily gathering firsthand.

Parent Education Evenings
Evenings set aside for parents to gather, learn, and connect. Topics range from Waldorf-inspired education and child development to navigating the early childhood years with intention and confidence.

May Faire
Maypole dancing, flower crowns, and the exuberant joy of spring fully in bloom. Families gather to celebrate the season together with food, music, and play.

Spring Baskets
Each spring, children plant and tend to their own basket of grass seeds. When the grass has grown tall and green, the Spring Hare visits to celebrate the arrival of the season with them.

Auction and Parent After-party
Our beloved annual fundraiser brings the parent community together for a festive evening of bidding, laughter, and community building. All proceeds support the school directly.

Family Workday and Picnic
Families gather to tend the school together, painting, planting, building, and cleaning, before sitting down to share a picnic lunch. A beloved day of shared effort and community spirit.

Ice Cream Social
A sweet send-off to mark the end of the school year. Families gather on the school grounds for ice cream, music, and an afternoon of joy before the long summer begins.
